Proper Temperature Checks
- Cook Thoroughly: Follow temperature
chart for proper temperature. To properly take temperature on a cooked
meat product, insert the tip of the thermometer into the thickest part
of the meat, avoiding the fat & bone. For poultry, insert the tip into
thick part of the thigh next to the body.
- Home Refrigerator: Use an
air-temperature thermometer to check for proper temperatures. Remember,
your refrigerator should not be above 40F degrees. You may also use this
thermometer for locating the colder areas of your refrigerator.
- Home Freezers: Proper temperature
is 0F degrees or below. Lay the tip of the thermometer so that it is suspended
(not touching products). Close the door, & allow proper time for the
thermometer to register.
